GP Birla Scholarship 2024 Online Registration

G. P. Birla Scholarship 2024 is an initiative of the G.P. Birla Educational Foundation* for meritorious students from West Bengal, who have passed the class 12 examination in the year 2024. The selected candidates will receive a scholarship worth ₹50,000 per year and other benefits.

*The G.P. Birla Educational Foundation was initiated to nurture the dream of Late Shri G. P. Birla, renowned Industrialist, and Philanthropist, to promote education, improve human resources and encourage the country’s youth to pursue education.

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:- 

  • be a domicile of West Bengal
  • have passed the Class 12 examination in the academic year 2024 from a recognised school/institution
  • have secured 85% marks or more from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education  (WBCHSE) or 90% or more from the Indian School Certificate (ISC)/Central Board of School Education (CBSE)
  • be pursuing undergraduate courses in streams such as Science, Commerce, Arts, Engineering, Medicine, Architecture, Law, Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary, and Cost Accountancy from any recognised university/institution in India
  • have an annual family income of less than ₹3,00,000 and demonstrate financial need to pursue further studies. In exceptional cases, the Trustees may consider students exceeding the income limit if they demonstrate extraordinary merit
Benefits

The selected candidates will receive the following benefits:

  • Scholarship of up to ₹50,000 per year to cover tuition and hostel fees (wherever applicable)
  • Additional one-time payment of ₹7,000 towards the purchase of books in the first year of college

Note:-

  • The scholarship is initially awarded to students for one year.
  • It will be renewable annually for a maximum of four years, subject to satisfactory performance in the preceding year as evaluated by the Trust.
  • The renewal is contingent upon completing the course within the four-year limit.

  • A completed and signed application form
  • Scanned colour photograph in JPEG format (max size 30KB)
  • Proof of admission (if already admitted), in PDF format (max size 2MB)
  • Copy of Class 12 marksheet in PDF format (max size 2MB)
  • Proof of annual family income (in PDF format, max size 2MB):
    • For salaried parents: Copy of Form 16 or Salary Certificate (Government or Private Sector)
    • For others: Copy of Income Tax Return or Certificate issued by Tahsildar, Councillor, etc.

Selection Criteria
An expert panel will review the applications received and interview shortlisted candidates. The panel currently includes Prof. Sumanta Basu from the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata and Dr. Rajib Das from Jadavpur University Kolkata. The decision of the expert panel is final.

Terms and Conditions
  • The marks will be calculated in the following manner –
    • WBCHSE – %age of total marks out of 500 (As per results)
    • ISC/CBSE – %age of best of 4 Papers out of 400 (One Language paper compulsory)
  • Applications must be forwarded through the Head of the Institution from where the student passed Class 12 or where the applicant is currently enrolled.
  • There is no need to submit a physical application by mail if you have already applied online.
  • Shortlisted students will be notified by email about further steps in the selection process. All communication will be sent to the email address provided in the application.
