Change Photo and Signature in PAN Card 2024

You can easily update your PAN card online. If you have the required internet credentials (digital signature certificate or Aadhaar eKYC), you can finish the process online. You have the option of completing the online process without using paper. If not, you can fill out the form online and deliver the supporting papers together with the acknowledgment slip to the nearest document collecting center.

Process to Change Photo in PAN Card Online

The steps to Change the Photo in your PAN Card Online mode are given below:

  • Visit the NSDL’s official website.
  • Choose ‘Request for New PAN Card Or/And Changes or Corrections in PAN Data’ as the Application Type.
  • Choose ‘Individual’ as the category.
  • Please provide your surname, mobile number, PAN number, email address, and birth date.
  • Enter the Captcha code provided and then click the ‘Submit’ button.
  • Your application will be assigned a temporary token number.
  • Choose the method by which you want to send your papers.
  • Next, pick the checkbox in the column on the left under the section ‘Photo Mismatch.’
  • Only by checking the box can your photo be edited or modified.
  • Remember to include the information from your current PAN card as well as evidence of PAN allocation.
  • You will then be required to provide documents, including a photograph. Once you have all of the required documents and information, submit the application form.
  • You will then be prompted to make a Rs. 101 payment. This can be achieved through internet banking, credit cards, debit cards, or demand drafts.

  • Fill out the online application form by following the instructions given in the section under ‘Changing Your Photo on Your PAN Card Online.’
  • Under ‘For Paperless PAN Application,’ select ‘No.’
  • Fill out the application and send it in.
  • Pay Rs.107 using net banking, credit card, debit card, or demand draft.
  • The acknowledgment will then be forwarded to you via email.
  • Print the acknowledgment form and attach two recent photographs to it.
  • Make sure the image is 3.5 cm by 2.5 cm in size with a white background.
  • It is not appropriate to staple or clip the photo to the form. The photograph should go into the available slot.
  • Signing across the image is not allowed.
  • Send the printed acknowledgment form and any relevant document proofs to the PAN Services Unit for Income Tax.

    The steps to Change your signature in your PAN Card Online mode are given below:

    • Use the form labeled ‘Request for New PAN Card Or/And Changes or Corrections in PAN Data.’
    • This form can be obtained on the NSDL website.
    • Mention your current PAN number exactly.
    • Fill out all of the fields marked with an asterisk (*).
    • Check the box next to the ‘Signature Mismatch’ area on the left-hand margin.
    • You will need to provide your current PAN card, which has the incorrect signature.
    • If you want to send the application and papers digitally, select ‘Yes.’
    • You will be prompted to upload the appropriate evidence and your signature, either from your computer or via DigiLocker.
    • Submit your application and make the required payments. Credit cards, debit cards, internet banking, and demand drafts are all accepted payment options. If you use online banking, bear in mind that you will be charged Rs.4 + service tax (for the payment gateway function).
    • You will receive an email with an acknowledgment number after your payment has been validated. This number can be used to monitor the status of the Pan application.
    • Process to Change Signature in PAN Card Offline

      To update the signature on your PAN card offline, follow the below steps.

      • First, fill out the online application form and follow the steps specified there.
      • After filling out the application form, you must:
      • Under the ‘For Paperless PAN Application’ column, select ‘No.’
      • Fill out the application and send it in.
      •  Make a payment.
      • Print the acknowledgment form you will get via email.
      • Make sure your signature or left thumbprint fits nicely inside the space provided. It should not appear across it or on the image you provide.
      • Please send this acknowledgment form, along with appropriate documentation and proof of PAN, to the Income Tax PAN Services Unit.

      Documents Required

      • Proof of identity, address, and date of birth
      • Proof of PAN – Copy of PAN card/ allotment letter
      • If Aadhaar is specified, provide a copy of your Aadhaar card
      • Proof of change requested – Photo of the applicant
      • Proof of PAN surrendered, if any

      Photo Specifications for PAN Card Application

      The photo for the PAN card application form should be 3.5 cm by 2.5 cm (132.28 pixels x 94.49 pixels). For the online application, the photo should have a resolution of 200 DPI and a maximum file size of 20 KB. The photo should be in JPEG format.

    • For offline document submission, you must include two pictures. When applying for a change in the photo on a PAN card, individuals, including minors, must attach a recent color photograph to the acknowledgment receipt supplied. The photo should reveal the applicant’s face and not be affixed or clipped to the acknowledgment receipt. However, the minor’s photograph will not be printed on the PAN card.
